Photo Editor Suite is another photo editing option for BlackBerry

A few months back we had a discussion on the BBGeeks Twitter feed about the lack of photo editing options on the BlackBerry. Since then we’ve been over a few options — including Photo Editor Ultimate earlier this month — but I want to point out when new apps hit the store. Different people have different standards in photo editing apps, and honestly Photo Editor Ultimate isn’t the most efficient app. There’s a new one in the BBGeeks Store, though, and I like the looks of this one.

While other BlackBerry photo editors take care of some tasks, from what I’ve seen Photo Editor Suite is the one that brings them all together. If you find a photo editing app that can’t crop, rotate, and re-size photos, you’re better off not even getting it. In fact, if that’s all you want, I’d recommend just getting the free version of Photo Editor Ultimate. If you want a bit more, though, Photo Editor Suite brings the features.

In order to get the spiffiest looking picture, you can adjust both the brightness and the contrast. You can also recolor the image, if you want, in RGB mode. I’ve found that photos in RGB mode resize a bit better than those in other modes — at least, that’s what I’ve noticed while using Photoshop. You can also change the color scheme to black and white, pop, or sepia for added effect.

Then there are the personalized additions you can make. This includes drawing lines and shapes on the image. You can also add doodles, text, and various brush effects. This is even useful in a professional setting, as it allows you to annotate the photo. Then you can send the picture in an email right from the app.

If you’re a Mac user, this compares well to the stripped down photo editing app ImageWell. That’s what I use on a daily basis, since I resize more than a dozen photos per day; the app is much, much smaller than Photoshop. Having a similar app on my BlackBerry can be a savior.

Those who seek a powerful, comprehensive photo editing application can get Photo Editor Suite while it’s on sale. Right now it’s $3.99, down from the normal $5.99 price. Since the BBGeeks Store no longer lists OS compatibility, here’s the list of compatible devices:

9570, Bold 9650, Bold 9700, Bold 9780, Curve 8520, Curve 8530, Curve 8900, Curve 8910, Curve 8930, Curve 8980, Curve 9300 3G, Curve 9330 3G, Storm 9500, Storm 9530/9530T, Storm2 9550/9520, Torch 9800, Tour 9630

Remember, always, to set your device so that Mobihand can automatically detect whether it’s compatible with your device.
